2014 to 2015

2014 is rapidly coming to a close. The dawn of a fresh new year brings sweet hope and promise. Like you, I count many events of major and minor significance in 2014: another birthday, illness of loved ones, spiritual growth, humbling recognition of times when I missed the mark, making an acquaintance a friend, personal health changes, victories, challenges, the discovery of green smoothies, several new hairstyles, and so on...
Then, now, and next-let's enjoy the journey.
Happy New Year!
Keep the faith, and best wishes to you,
Sylvia

Church Seniors

Yesterday, at the Church of Christ where I worship,we had the annual Senior Appreciation Day. It was a beautiful event. So glad our congregation knows to celebrate and recognize the hard work of our senior members, and some of those labored at the opening of this congregation. We are blessed to have a few of those pioneers still with us. Typically, our seniors are the first ones present at church meeting times. Wonderful examples they are.
At one point, one of the event's organizers asked me to pin a corsage on my mother, one of the pioneer seniors. Then she said, "And Sylvia, after you pin on your Mom's flower, she can pin yours on you."
On me? I was a bit surprised.
My response,"I'm a senior? When are we considered seniors around here?"
Her reply,"At age 62."
I've been member of this congregation since upper elementary school. It appears I slid into church senior status before I even knew it. It's a surprise to me and a blessing to me. Where did the time go?
Take care,
Sylvia

This is my new blog.

This is my new blog. The themes will sometimes be similar to www.nikolisthoughts.blogspot.com. At this point, I want to connect all of my writing with all or part of my name: Sylvia Brown-Roberts. I hope those followers of www.nikolisthoughts.blogspot.com will come over and follow me at www.sistersylvia.blogspot.com.
Lots of things are happening with my writing. I've almost completed my draft of the 3rd novel in the "Church Doors" series. This novel should be published in the first half of 2015. Lots of readers' questions about NikkiMac and her fellow church members will be answered in this last book (for a while) in the "Church Doors"  trilogy.

It's great when fellow authors share the word about each other's work. I met fellow author Frances Frost at a Reading Divas literary conference in Bowie, MD earlier this year. We took a picture holding each other's novel. Hers is called Life in Spades, and my book club (Sisters With Attitude) placed it on our 2015 reading list. Frances holds my first novel, Behind Church Doors.
Happy reading to all.
Best wishes,
Sylvia
