Writing in Dunkin Donuts

I can't always get my writing done in my study. Sometimes, I need a different writing environment. On this day, pavers were working on our street. The loud sounds were jarring and I couldn't concentrate on my work. It was a hot day, so I had the windows open, which meant I could also hear the chatter of the workmen as they labored. At one point, I was more focused on their conversation than on the conversation of  the characters in my mind.
I thought, "That's it. I'm not getting any writing done. There's a Dunkin Donuts not too far away." I grabbed my notes and left the house.
"Much better." I munched on a breakfast bagel, sipped an iced tea, and edited a chapter in my upcoming novel. The sounds here were background sounds that didn't distract me.
This was a good plan for this writer on this day.
